SUPERVISOR:  Supervisor, Children’s Program

NECESSARY TRAINING

  • YWCA Volunteer Training
  • Position Specific Orientation

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Greeting families who are dropping off their children for daycare outside our MacNab location by the main doors
  • Giving families a warm welcome / smiling face as they arrive with their children
  • Putting out Tri fold Childcare board at the beginning of each shift and returning it to childcare services at the end of each shift
  • Directing any inquiries or concerns to Childcare staff
  • Adhere to all policies as outlined in the YWCA Volunteer Training
  • Connect with the coordination team with any concerns prior to the completion of your volunteer shift 
  • Works safely and reports all workplace hazards 
  • Supports YWCA Hamilton mission, vision and values 
  • Perform other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Able to commit to a recurring volunteer shift
  • Desire to be a long-term volunteer
  • Committed to advocating for and empowering women, girls and gender diverse individuals
  • Must be able to lead and work from a feminist, anti-racist / anti-oppressive perspective for operations and strategic planning
  • Willing to accept supervision and take direction
  • Must maintain confidentiality and privacy 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and verbal communication skills
  • Able to excel in a high interaction environment  
  • Must provide a current Vulnerable Sector / Criminal Records Check or willingness to obtain at own cost
  • Must provide a TB test, proof of Tetanus (within 10 years) and proof of MMR immunizations

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time, lift and bend.
  • Must be able to stand outdoors for up to 2 hours daily year-round; may be exposed to heat, humidity or cold.
